Inverse Fisher Transform on CCIAbout John EHLERS:
From California, USA, John is a veteran trader. With 35 years trading experience he has seen it all. John has an engineering background that led to his technical approach to trading ignoring fundamental analysis (with one important exception).
John strongly believes in cycles. He’d rather exit a trade when the cycle ends or a new one starts. He uses the MESA principle to make predictions about cycles in the market and trades one hundred percent automatically.
In the show John reveals:
• What is more appropriate than trading individual stocks
• The one thing he relies upon in his approach to the market
• The detail surrounding his unique trading style
• What important thing underpins the market and gives every trader an edge
About INVERSE FISHER TRANSFORM:
The purpose of technical indicators is to help with your timing decisions to buy or
sell. Hopefully, the signals are clear and unequivocal. However, more often than
not your decision to pull the trigger is accompanied by crossing your fingers.
Even if you have placed only a few trades you know the drill.
In this article I will show you a way to make your oscillator-type indicators make
clear black-or-white indication of the time to buy or sell. I will do this by using the
Inverse Fisher Transform to alter the Probability Distribution Function (PDF) of
your indicators. In the past12 I have noted that the PDF of price and indicators do
not have a Gaussian, or Normal, probability distribution. A Gaussian PDF is the
familiar bell-shaped curve where the long “tails” mean that wide deviations from
the mean occur with relatively low probability. The Fisher Transform can be
applied to almost any normalized data set to make the resulting PDF nearly
Gaussian, with the result that the turning points are sharply peaked and easy to
identify. The Fisher Transform is defined by the equation
1)
Whereas the Fisher Transform is expansive, the Inverse Fisher Transform is
compressive. The Inverse Fisher Transform is found by solving equation 1 for x
in terms of y. The Inverse Fisher Transform is:
2)
The transfer response of the Inverse Fisher Transform is shown in Figure 1. If
the input falls between –0.5 and +0.5, the output is nearly the same as the input.
For larger absolute values (say, larger than 2), the output is compressed to be no
larger than unity. The result of using the Inverse Fisher Transform is that the
output has a very high probability of being either +1 or –1. This bipolar
probability distribution makes the Inverse Fisher Transform ideal for generating
an indicator that provides clear buy and sell signals.
Rational CCIThe Rational CCI uses a variety of mechanisms to signal potential long / short entries, both on the long and short time frames.
Bullish crosses (typically buys) are encountered when the CCI crosses the EMA, and is in the Bearish/Oversold territory. Typically, one should aim to go long when there is both a bullish cross, as well as bullish divergence (higher low on the indicator, with equal to lower price).
This indicator also works great for detecting valid FOMO buys vs. getting in when there is not much juice left to squeeze. When there is a strong bullish move encountered that does not have a bearish crossover immediately preceeding it, these are considered strong breakout/momentum buys.
Bearish crosses (typically exits/shorts) are encountered when the CCI crosses down under the EMA and is in the Bullish/Overbought territory. Similar with the long entries, one should aim to exit long, or enter in a short when there is both a bearish cross, as well as bearish divergence (lower high on the indicator, with equal to higher price).
Lastly, similar to highly bullish breakouts/momentum peaks, strong bearish momentum is detected when there is a strong bearish movement that does not have a strong bullish move and/or bullish cross immediately before it.
On higher resolution time frames, the trading strategy is nearly the same -- however as mentioned before, it works best when there is both a signal + divergence.
While effective buy itself, I highly recommend employing this indicator in conjunction with your other favorites. I find it to work best with GodMode, LazyBear WaveTrend, and Willy's%R. If anything, this is a great indicator to use as confirmation when other indicators may be contradicting one another.
Double CCI & RSI AlertHi, I am lonelygrass. It is suggested to use this indicator with my another script, Double CCI & RSI Trigger , . This EA consists of a CCI of 34 periods and RSI of 14 periods.
The alert is created in hopes of distinguishing super short term trend and helping scalping.
In general, triangleup (bullish) and triangledown (bearish) are shown near each bars.
A qualifying bullish bar should (1) have a CCI value equaling 0 or more and (2) have a RSI value equaling 55 or more
Instead, a bearish bar should (1) have a CCI value below 0 and (2) have a RSI value below 45
If you put two systems together, you will get an idea of when to initiate your trade and how to hold onto your trade until a counter signal comes off the graph.
Double CCI & RSI TriggerWarning : This strategy can only be implemented with 1 minute timeframe chart
With the help of 2 CCI and 1 RSI, it is much easier to identify the market trend. The main idea of this EA is looking at a longer CCI (170 periods) and RSI (14 periods) and finding some possible bullish and bearish trends.
Bullish Conditions: 170 CCI has a value of above 0 and RSI 14 is larger than 30 (oversold)
Bearish Conditions: 170 CCI has a value of below 0 and RSI 14 is lower than 70 (overbought)
When conditions are met, CT+ (bullish) and CT- (bearish) signals will be shown on the graph.
To effectively adopt the system, users have to incorporate "Double CCI & RSI Alert" , my another script, into this and can decide whether or not to hold onto positions. Happy trading! Appreciate support and comments!
Protege Simple CCI / RSI strategy - Free editionAfter so much demands, i decided to publish a basic script using the CCI / RSI strategy.
CCI show us when to enter position when it cross 100 or - 100 .
Its better if the rsi is overbought / oversold to ge the best risks / reward ratio.
I hope it will help you all.
Log Commodity Channel IndexSame indicator as CCI except calculated in log-space. Expected to do better on high-volatility charts, and in some cases (illustrated with ETC-BTC) may provide earlier sell signal.

Here is a CCI script that does averages of the CCI with many types to choose from. It also has a few alert types which have titles that are pretty self descriptive. I use the alerts as 'once per bar on close'. Hope it helps you!

Coloured CCI Histogram V2.0 by JustUncleLThis is a requested update of this script. This is a standard CCI indicator that shows a coloured histogram of important CCI levels, giving a good visual of the CCI levels. Added to this version is an extra coloured level +/-200 and an option to calculate CCI with EMA instead of the standard SMA.
CCI LEVELS:
Light Green - Greater than 0 and less than 100.
Green - Greater than 100 and less than 200.
Aqua - Greater than 200.
Light Red - Less than 0 and greater than -100.
Red - Less than -100 and greater than -200.
Magenta - Less than -200.
If you would like different colour arrangement just change them in the "Style" settings of the indicator.
CCI Strategy Reversed Backtest The Commodity Channel Index (CCI) is best used with markets that display cyclical or
seasonal characteristics, and is formulated to detect the beginning and ending of these
cycles by incorporating a moving average together with a divisor that reflects both possible
and actual trading ranges. The final index measures the deviation from normal, which indicates
major changes in market trend.
To put it simply, the Commodity Channel Index (CCI) value shows how the instrument is trading
relative to its mean (average) price. When the CCI value is high, it means that the prices are
high compared to the average price; when the CCI value is down, it means that the prices are low
compared to the average price. The CCI value usually does not fall outside the -300 to 300 range
and, in fact, is usually in the -100 to 100 range.
You can change long to short in the Input Settings
Please, use it only for learning or paper trading. Do not for real trading.
MTF Stochastic CCI ALERTWorks good on 5 or 15min set to the 2hr or 4hr time frame.
Set an alarm (Set an alert on each Long/Short "crossing down", 0.8 (or anything below 0.99), "on condition" )
Or just as a visual.
Best to use other factors to confirm but most of the time it does a pretty decent job.
Price Action Trading System v0.3 by JustUncleLThis is an updated and improved version of my "Price Action Trading strategy". I have added two extra optional filters, one is a trend direction filter based on the MACD slow EMA(17), blue line, and the other is a RSI(7) filter which works similarly to CCI(14) but slightly different dynamics (thank you to gianfranco60 for the suggestion). Also made a couple of corrections:
- input for lenLower minval=1 should be maxval=-1
- one bar pullback did not reset trigger, missing some alerts
Some Notes about usage:
- this is an alert indicator not a signal generator, each alert is a strong trend continuance candidate,
but should be treated on it's own merits by looking at chart dynamics and market conditions.
- will work well on trending markets only.
- works best on the first alert after MACD cross over.
- don't take trades when MACD and signal are close together.
- don't trade when channel and slow MA are flat or close together or
chopper (yellow and blue MA cross over quickly over short period).
