How to create a portfolio from a watchlist

To create a portfolio based on an existing watchlist:

  1. Go to the portfolio page.
  2. Select the Add from Watchlist card.

After clicking, a pop-up window with the new portfolio settings will appear.

Fields to fill in:

  • Watchlist — the name of the watchlist from which the portfolio will be created. By default, the last active watchlist is selected.
  • Portfolio name — name of the portfolio. You can enter up to 128 characters. Portfolio names may be identical.
  • Currency — portfolio currency. All asset values will be automatically converted into this currency if they are traded in another one. Cash holdings are also accounted for in the portfolio currency.
  • Risk-free rate — the risk-free rate of return. This is the theoretical annual return that can be earned with zero or minimal risk. Typically, it may be based on bank deposit rates, the key interest rate of the main investment country, or long-term government bonds. • Benchmark — market performance benchmark. Allows you to compare your portfolio's performance against a market reference. We recommend using an index or a fund corresponding to your portfolio's market or sector as a benchmark. Learn more in the related article.
  • Description (optional) — portfolio description. This field may be left empty. Maximum length — 1200 characters.

After filling in all fields, click Create — the internal page of the portfolio will open.

What happens next?

  • Transactions will be automatically added to the portfolio — one buy transaction for each instrument from the selected watchlist.
  • The last available price for the most recent trading day will be used for calculation. In each transaction, the quantity of the instrument will be equal to 1.
  • All transactions will have a commission of 0.
  • Unsupported instrument types will be skipped.
  • If your watchlist contains more instruments than allowed by your current subscription plan, only the first N instruments will be added within your subscription limit.

Note: when creating a portfolio in this way, corresponding cash transactions will not be added automatically. Please add them manually for correct metric calculations.

The new portfolio is created!

Automatically generated transactions for instruments from the watchlist can be edited on the Transactions page. More details are available in the article on editing transactions. A detailed guide on adding new transactions is provided in the article.
