Riksbank Publishes Report on Phase 3 Trial of CBDC

The Riksbank has published a report on Phase 3 trials of a central bank digital currency (CBDC), which involves technical testing using distributed ledger technology (DLT). A key part of the trial concerns the extent to which payment providers and intermediaries such as banks should be free to develop CBDC-based solutions. In addition, the tests involved programmable payments and the already disclosed trials of cross-border payments.
