(The Insurer) - Specialty (re)insurance broker Miller has launched a marine team in South Korea with a quartet of hires from Marsh's Korean operations.

Miller launched its South Korean operations in January, led by former Marsh Korea CEO David Kim.

This publication had reported in November 2024 that Miller was looking to enter South Korea and Malaysia in 2025.

KyungSeop Shim will lead the new marine division as head of specialty.

Shim previously held senior leadership roles at Marsh Korea, including head of marine and head of specialty. He also brings operational experience from running his own shipping business.

Shim is joined by three other former Marsh Korea colleagues, with Justin Roh specialising in protection and indemnity, hull and machinery, terminal, transport and logistics risks.

Former Marsh Korea vice president Hana Jung most recently managed a broad portfolio of direct P&I and freight, demurrage and defence business, alongside retail and reinsurance programs for hull and machinery, war risks and kidnap and ransom.

Lastly, Jayce Park has experience in retail broking and facultative reinsurance placements across P&I, hull and machinery and container risks, having previously handled retail insurance and reinsurance claims and collections at Marsh.

Kim said the new team will further establish South Korea as a meaningful location for Miller, with plans to expand into other lines as the team looks to collaborate with the London marine market team.
