Short-term downtrend, gold price retreats to $3000 zone

Additionally, ongoing geopolitical risks discourage traders from making strong bearish bets on the non-yielding gold price, keeping losses in check ahead of the release of flash global PMIs. Market attention will then turn to the U.S. Personal Consumption Expenditure (PCE) Price Index, set for release on Friday.
