Current monetary policy has brought us this far, and until something changes, it looks like no matter how you look at it, 0% or negative rates are coming. The next 0-15 years should be very 'interest-ing.' If another crisis hits, and the Fed has to lower interest rates drastically, the support of this channel that has held for around 35 years, shows that it is already below 0%. Having at least SOME physical gold and cold storage crypto are good hedges against both of the eventual potential scenarios; an eventual spike in inflation and interest rates; or a Japanese style bumping along around 0% for decades scenario.
